Charlotte-Matthews mass transit experiment

Current mood:  optimistic
Category: Life

So, I am doing the mass transit thing into work. Today is my 2nd day in this experiment. I took the express into downtown yesterday and a local route home. Today I rode my bike into downtown Matthews and caught the express. Anyhow, so far, so good. I get needed exercise without too much inconvenience.

Erica totaled her car

Current mood:  worried
Category: Automotive

Well, my wife, Erica, totaled her Saturn car today. Yes, fortunately she, the other driver, and both of the girls (Jordyn and Ava) are fine. They are a little shaken by the ordeal but no one was really hurt. I guess that I would ask for prayers that the girls have calm/peace, that everyone, especially Erica who has issues with trauma setting-off other health issues, remains healthy, and that we as a family maintain a positive perspective on the accident. We’re still planning to go to Italy this month so… I’d really like for things to stay relatively on-track. Life’s road bumps are often opportunities. God, help us to recognize and take advantage of those opportunities.

Prayer requests for a friend and co-worker

A friend and co-worker of mine, Jim, has recently received some bad medical news. This has been weighing on my heart for the past week. It doesn’t sound good but great things and miracles do happen in the face of tremendous obstacles. Please join me in sending lots and lots of positive thoughts and prayers to him and his family.

During Jim’s surgery late Thursday extensive malignancies were found. Surgery could not remove all of these malignancies. Terry, Jim’s wife, has requested privacy on Friday to allow Jim to recover from the surgery and to allow the family to have time to absorb and begin dealing with these new facts.

A CT scan last Thursday followed by a colonoscopy yesterday revealed a mass in or on Jim’s colon. A pathology report is expected today, but regardless of the pathology, surgery is anticipated on Thursday. Jim is hospitalized at Carolinas Medical Center room ____.
